Addressing mediapersons, NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule expressed that the legal battle with the party's rival faction was not a fight against any particular individual, but a struggle to uphold constitutional principles to make sure that rules and laws are followed.
Sule expressed confidence in the Sharad Pawar-led faction's legal standing, asserting that the Election Commission's decision to award the original party name and symbol to the rival faction led by her sister-in-law, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, will fail to stand in court.
"Rules are made to be followed. Rules and laws should not be meant for arbitrariness. The country will run according to the Constitution given by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and within the framework," she said.
"This is a fight of morality," she said.
"Injustice has happened to Pawar Saheb. Tomorrow, they can do it to anyone in the country," she said, referring to the ECI handing over the party name and symbol to Ajit Pawar's faction in 2023.
"Sharad Pawar was not just a founder member, but the president of the party, and a reading of the NCP's constitution would show that the case against her faction had little merit," she said.
"The ECI may have ruled in favour of the rival faction, but they cannot win in court," she said.
On a legal notice challenging the election of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar as NCP national president, Sule said it was an internal matter of the rival faction.
"We are fighting our party's battle. What happened to us after our party was broken can happen to them too. The real NCP president is Sharad Pawar," she said.
NCP 'national secretary' Sachchidanand Singh has sent a fresh notice questioning Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar's election as the party's national president, claiming that the organisational election held on February 26 was invalid.
On Rahul Gandhi's dharna in Delhi seeking an FIR over a pellet gun victim's complaint, Sule questioned the BJP's criticism of the Congress leader and referred to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's statements praising Gen Z.
"Why is the BJP insulting Gen-G (Rahul Gandhi)? They should listen to Mohan Bhagwat ji's statement. They consider him their leader," she said.
Sule also alleged that the Pune police appeared more active against the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition ahead of his 'Chhatron ki Gunj' event on Saturday than in dealing with crime in the city.
She also reiterated her demand for an inquiry into the alleged use of pellet guns against student protesters, saying her party had been seeking an SIT probe from the first day.
Asked about speculation of a possible merger between the two NCP factions following a meeting between Sharad Pawar and his grandnephew Parth Pawar at Pawar's Silver Oak residence, Sule said such meetings between political leaders were not unusual.
"Why Praful (Patel) bhai, (Sunil) Tatkare Saheb or Parth Pawar met him, only Sharad Pawar can answer that," she said, referring to earlier meetings between the leaders.
Sule said several leaders from different political parties meet Sharad Pawar and that the two sides had worked together for many years.
The Baramati MP further said that Congress leaders' demands for transparency in Ram temple donations and the PM CARES Fund should be welcomed.
"Since PM CARES was established, we have demanded that the country should be told where the money came from. What is there to hide?" she said.
On the controversy over the Congress decision to sing two lines of Vande Mataram, Sule said every political party had the right to decide its internal programmes.
