In what could be a scene out of a Shakespearean comedy, two men claiming to be one person baffled everyone by giving conflicting information regarding a corruption case against horticulture minister Ramreddy Venkat Reddy.

The case, which was heard by Justice L Narasimha Reddy in the High Court on Wednesday, came in the open after one Goguloth Chinna, claiming to be the secretary and correspondent of Sri Chaitanya Techno School in Enkoor village, Khammam, alleged that he was made to pay `35 lakh as bribe to the minister and `15 lakh to his associates in order to run the school. He filed a petition in the court seeking CBI inquiry against the minister.

But in a twist, another person by the name of Goguloth Chinna, claiming to be the same person, said the petition had been filed in his name without his knowledge or intention.

Faced with the quandary, the court had ordered both Goguloth Chinnas to appear before the judge on Wednesday. When Narasimha Reddy asked the person claiming to be the real petitioner to show his identity, he appeared confused. Having had his suspicions aroused, the judge directed both ‘petitioners’ to appear before the superintendent of police, Warangal (Rural) on Feb 4  and posted the matter to Feb 18.
