Lovers are taking the help of the Internet to pop the question: ‘how to propose’ is a Google search spiking 100 per cent close to Valentine’s Day.

They are also searching for gifts to present on February 14. “Flowers, chocolates and cakes are still the dominant choices, though watches, perfumes, wallets, tablets, clothes and bags were also searched by both sexes as possible gift options,” says a note from Google.

Search trends also show that ‘Valentine’s Day quotes’ tops the chart and is searched more widely than ‘Valentine’s Day cards’, ‘Valentine’s Day poems’, ‘Valentine’s Day SMS’, and ‘Valentine’s Day songs’.

Analytics tracker Google Search Trend found Titanic the unparalleled winner among romantic movie searches in the run-up to Valentine’s Day. That blockbuster was followed by Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Twilight Saga, The Notebook and Pretty Woman.

Leonardo DiCaprio tops the search as romantic hero, followed by Tom Cruise, Robert Pattinson, Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan.

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the most searched romantic book, according to Google.
