With a whopping 95,735 fresh infections, the world's second-worst affected India, reported its highest daily surge ever with its tally breaching 44 lakh. The country also recorded 1,172 deaths on Thursday.
The total case tally stands at 44,65,864 including 9,19,018 active cases, 34,71,784 cured/discharged/migrated & 75062 deaths, according to Ministry of Health data.
Meanwhile, a grim global milestone was also reported today as the worldwide toll due to the virus crossed the 9 lakh mark, according to Johns Hopkins tally.
The death toll now stands at 901,050 with 27.7 million total cases and 18.6 million recoveries.
They said the Government of India was approached after the social media platforms concerned failed to act against the links within the mandated 36 hours of notices being issued to them by the state. (READ HERE)
Meanwhile, Sikkim reported 20 fresh coronavirus cases on Thursday, which pushed the tally in the state to 2010.
Nagpur district registered 1,934 new coronavirus patients, taking its caseload to 46,490 on Thursday, the local administration said. The district recorded 58 fresh coronavirus deaths, pushing up the toll to 1,516, a District Information Office release said.
With 2,227 new COVID-19casesand 16 fresh deaths, Chhattisgarhs total count rose to 55,680 and the toll to 493 on Thursday, a health official said. The day also saw discharge of 1,345 patients from hospitals, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,855, he said.
As many as 74 Pakistanis, stranded in different Indian cities due to COVID-19 pandemic, were repatriated to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah border, the Pakistan High Commission here said. Since March 20, more than 760 stranded Pakistanis have returned home, it said in a statement.
While three persons from the city died due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, one death was reported from the rural parts, taking the death toll to 855 in the district.

Gujarat's Ahmedabad district recorded 167 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking its tally to 33,204 on Thursday, the state Health Department said. Out of these 167 new cases, 148 were from Ahmedabad city and 19 from the rural parts of the district, said a release by the Health Department.
As many as 639 persons tested positive for coronavirus, while six persons died of the infection in Goa on Thursday, a health official said. With the addition of the latest cases, the tally in the coastal state has risen to 22,890, the official said.
This is the highest single-day spike so far, as the tally breached the 2.05-lakh mark in the city, where a record 58,340 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, authorities said.

Worldwide death count due to coronavirus crossed the 9,00,000 mark on Thursday with 901,050 deaths, 27.7 million total cases and 18.6 million recoveries, according to Johns Hopkins data. US continues to be the worst-affected with 63.5 million cases and India is at the second spot with over a total of 43 million cases.
A total of 160 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Manipur in the last 24 hours taking the total coronavirus count in the state to 7,362. There are 1,774 active cases in the state and 40 persons have died due to the disease.
