Indian Mujahideen operative Yasin Bhatkal, who is being questioned by the city police, has reportedly confessed that he planted explosives himself at Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17, 2010.

According to sources, Bhatkal told his interrogators that he landed in Bangalore 15 days earlier, surveyed places like BVK Iyengar Road and Gandhi Bazaar before finally selecting the Chinnaswamy Stadium to carry out the blast. He also stayed in Tumkur for a few days prior to the blast.

Sources also said that Bhatkal had discussed his terror plans with his wife, but police did not confirm this.

He has been in the custody of the city police for about two weeks and the police have stepped up security in view of the Republic Day celebrations. Sources also said Yasin Bhatkal will be taken to Koppa in the coming days to study his network and operations.
