Protest: Yuva Morcha Activists Arrested

The Pettah police on Saturday arrested five Yuva Morcha activists who staged a protest when the Prime Minister’s convoy passed through the Chakkai stretch of the bypass here.

The Prime Minister was returning from Technopark to the airport. The activists, who ran towards the convoy, were apprehended by the police. The activists were protesting against the LPG price hike and waved party flags and shouted “go back” slogans at the PM. The arrested have been identified as Gopakumar, 28, Kailas Bhavan, TC 41/228, Nalanda Junction, Kuriyathi; Mahesh, 30, Flat no 658, Rajaji Nagar; Deepak, 20, TC 25/887 (3), Sree Kumarakom House, Thycaud;

Premchand, 28, Latha Nilayam, Aralummoodu, Satish Kumar, 29, Poonkulam. They were produced in court and remanded.
