Government nod for 8 steel projects

The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) on Monday cleared nine investment proposals worth Rs 1920.82 crore.

The SLSWCA headed by Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra approved eight steel projects and a rail linked container terminal having direct employment potential for 1,873 persons.

In addition to this, another proposal of Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) for development of rail linked container terminal and multi-modal logistic park (MMLP) with proposed investment of Rs 70 crore also received the Authority’s approval.

After the meeting, IPICOL CMD G Mathivathanan told reporters that the industrial units cleared in principle by SLSWCA include proposals of SKJ Ispat which proposed to set up 0.60 MTPA pellet plant at Didhakundi village under Champua tehsil of Keonjhar district with investment of  Rs 133 crore.

Arya Integrated Steel Pvt Ltd has submitted a proposal of 0.30 MTPA steel plant at Malada and Dhanurjayapur villages under Barbil tehsil of Keonjhar district with proposed investment of ` 546 crore.

KK Pellets Pvt Ltd plans to set up 0.60 MTPA plant at Sairapenth Mahadeijoda of Keonjhar district with proposed investment of around Rs 159 crore, Fortune Iron & Steel Ltd for a 0.60 MTPA pellet plant at Haridajodi under Jhumpura tehsil of Keonjhar district with an investment of Rs 123 crore and Sushant Minerals Pvt Ltd to set up 1.20 MTPA iron ore pelletisation plant at Sana Indupur and Bada Indupur under Koida tehsil of Sundargarh district with investment proposal of Rs 220 crore.

The other projects include SSAB Energy & Minerals’ 3.00 MTPA iron ore beneficiation plant and 1.8 MTPA pelletisation plant at Dhanurjaypur under Hormoto tehsil of Keonjhar district with proposed investment of Rs 248 crore, TS Alloys’  60,000 TPA ferro alloys plant at Anantapur under Athgarh sub-division of Cuttack district with proposed investment of Rs 111 crore, and Essel Mining & Industries’ 1.20 MTPA pelletisation plant in the Koida tehsil of  Sundargarh district with an investment of Rs 379 crore.

The meeting decided that IPICOL will engage Central Government agencies for benchmarking study for determining land and water requirement of the new industries.

The issues relating to parking of vehicles by the industries on the roads was discussed.

The industries have to develop their own parking lots, Mathivathanan said.

Development Commissioner Injeti Srinivas, Principal Secretary, Water Resources, SC Mohapatra, Energy Secretary PK Jena, Steel and Mines Secretary Gudey Srinivas, IDCO CMD Vishal Dev, GRIDCO Chairman Hemanta  Sharma and other members of the committee were present.
