COVID-19 HIGHLIGHTS| Schools in Odisha to remain closed till December 31 due to pandemic

NEW DELHI: India's COVID-19 caseload went past 84 lakh, while the number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 77.65 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.32 per cent, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
India's total coronavirus cases mounted to 84,11,724 with 47,638 new infections being reported in a day, while the death toll climbed to 1,24,985 with 670 new fatalities, data updated at 8.00 am showed.
A total of 77,65,966 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.32 per cent, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.49 per cent.

Odisha schools to stay shut
Telangana logs 1,602 new cases
Telangana reported 1,602 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the tally to2,47,284 while fourmore deaths pushed the toll to 1,366, the state government said on Friday.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 295, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (137) and Rangareddy (118) districts, it said in a bulletin, providing data as of 8 PM on November 5.
As many as19,272 are under treatment and46,970 samples were tested on November 5.
Jharkhand tally at 1,03,543
Jharkhand has not reported any fresh COVID-19 fatality in the past 24 hours, even as 355 fresh cases pushed the tally to 1,03,543, a health department official said on Friday.
The coronavirus death toll remained at 894 in the state.
The new infections include 99 from Ranchi district, 34 from Dhanbad and 26 from East Singhbhum, he said.
Jharkhand now has 4,685 active coronavirus cases, while 97,964 people have recovered from the disease so far, the official said.
Arunachal's tally at 15,244
The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 15,244 on Friday as 84 more people, including seven health workers, tested positive for the infection, an official said.
Of the fresh cases, 22 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 17 from Shi-Yomi, 14 from Lower Dibang Valley and six from Changlang district, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
Four new cases each were also registered in East Siang and Lower Subansiri, three each in Namsai, Upper Siang and West Kameng, two each in Papumpare and Lepa Rada and one each in West Siang, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey and Tirap districts, he said.
