Sensex remains higher in noon trade

Indian equitiescontinued to trade higherin noon trade on Monday. Oil & gas, FMCG and banking stocks witnessed a gain whereas IT stocks registered a fall.

At 12.19 p.m.,the Sensex was trading up 130.07 points or 0.51% at 25,771.63 with 18 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 34.25 points or 0.45% at 7,698.15 with 32 components gaining.

Top gainers were RIL (2.84%), HDFC (1.78%), Maruti Suzuki (1.43%) and Axis Bank (1.30%).

Top losers were Hindalco (1.92%), Infosys (1.38%), Gail India (0.86%) and Wipro (0.79%).

The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.07% and 1.31% respectively. The Oil & Gas index was at 10,892.37, up by 121.91 points or by 1.13%. The FMCG index was at 6,970.05, up by 59.03 points or by 0.85%. The Bankex index was at 17,759.65, up by 147.94 points or by 0.84%.

On the other hand, the IT index was at 9,359, down by 41.51 points or by 0.44%.
