Born to a farmer, Rupert Stadler is the Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG, one of the world’s most admired luxury car company. Born in Bavaria, Germany, he studied Business Management, majoring in Corporate Planning/Controllership and Finance, Banking and Investment, at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
After graduating, Stadler started his career at Philips Kommunikation Industrie AG in Nuremberg. In 1990, Stadler joined AUDI AG, Ingolstadt, where he assumed various controlling tasks in sales and marketing. Stadler switched to Volkswagen-Audi España, Barcelona, as Commercial Director in 1994. He was responsible for controllership, accounts, personnel and organisation.
From 1997 Stadler was head of the Board of Management’s Office for Volkswagen Group, and additionally Head of Group Product Planning from January 2002. It was in 2003 he became Audi AG Board Member and in 2007 Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG.
Stadler joined the Board of Volkswagen in 2010 in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG. At Audi, Stadler has been credited with streamlining operations, developing new products, expanding to different regions, buyout of Ducati Motors and guiding Lamborghini cars which is owned by Audi AG.
