Following Rahul Gandhi’s public rebuke to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, the Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday indicated that the Maharashtra Government would be reconsidering its decision to reject the judicial commission report on Adarsh housing scam.

Backing Rahul Gandhi completely, Sonia said that the matter had been settled on Friday after the Maharashtra CM was asked to reconsider the controversial decision.

“That has been decided yesterday and I think it is going to be resolved,” Sonia said in reply to a specific question on the issue.

The Congress president was speaking at the flag-hoisting ceremony on the party’s foundation day in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, other senior ministers and leaders.

She, however, emphasised on the point that the Congress governments always made amends when “mistakes’’ were committed, but the same did not hold true with the governments run by other parties hinting at the BJP.

“I would ask the media to please look at other states led by other parties also; something about corruption among other parties,’’ she said complainingly, seemingly accusing the media of targeting her party.

On Friday conclave of the Congress CMs with Rahul, Sonia clarified that the focus of the meeting was Lokayukta, Food Security, price rise and not Adarsh.

“The CMs were told what they need to do, what legislation they need to pass. What measures they can take to fight corruption.”

Meanwhile, speaking to Express, Maharashtra CM admitted that rejecting the Adarsh report, authored by two-member commission comprising retired Bombay High Court judge J A Patil and former Chief Secretary of the State P Subramanian, was a “bad decision”.
