The CBI on Monday questioned Devendra Darda and Rishi Darda in connection with alleged irregularities in coal block allocation to Nagpur-based JMD Yavatmal Energy Limited.

Devendra, son of Congress MP Vijay Darda, is a director on the board of JLD Yavatmal Energy Limited, while Rishi, son of Maharashtra Government cabinet minister Rajendra Darda, also is associated with the company. On September 4, the CBI booked Devendra on charges of resorting to cheating in order to bolster JLD Yavatmal Energy Limited’s chances of bagging a coal block.

He has also been booked in another case by the CBI on the same charges of cheating to help AMR Iron and Steel Limited, another Nagpur-based company, to bag a coal block. Devendra is a director on the board of that company as well.
