Two days after twin blasts onboard the Kaziranga Express at Chennai Central Railway Station, probe agencies found that a passenger in S4 coach had booked his tatkal ticket using fake information.

Sources said two persons did not continue the journey beyond Chennai, though their destinations were Malda and Guwahati, respectively. They were booked on berth 70 in S4 and berth 28 in S5, where the explosions occurred.

The S4 ticket was in the name of one Ahmed Hussain and was booked on April 29 at 10:07 am for Malda. At the time of booking, the mobile number provided was 9446138113. Probe agencies have so far failed to access him as his  number has been switched off for the last one month. The address he provided too was fake.

“No one will provide a mobile number (while booking a ticket) which he/she had switched off a month ago,” an official noted.

The police could also not reach another passenger named Johnson who travelled in S5 coach and was booked for up to Guwahati.

Explaining the similarities between Thursday’s explosions and the serial blasts at BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi’s rally in Patna last year, an official privy to the investigation said that

the seconds hand of the timers was missing in both cases. The explosives in both bombs also match.

The CB-CID, meanwhile, said the bomb was placed in Bangalore. The agency’s ADGP Karan Sinha, who is camping there, quizzed two suspects who had been handed over to the CB-CID by the Central agency.
