India's COVID-19 caseload rose to 85,53,657 with 45,903 new infections being reported, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease crossed 79 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.56 per cent, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Monday.
The death toll from the disease climbed to 1,26,611 with 490 new fatalities being registered, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Pune district in Maharashtra reported 418 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 3,28,507, a health official said on Monday. With 14 fatalities, the death toll mounted to 8,093, he said.
With 1,586 new COVID-19 cases and 17 more deaths, Chhattisgarhs total count rose to 2,02,523 and toll to 2,464on Monday, a health official said.

Delhi recorded over 70 fatalities due to COVID-19 for the third consecutive day on Monday, taking the death toll to 7,060, while 5,023 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to over 4.4 lakh, a health department bulletin said. Seventy-one deaths were recorded in the city, it said.
As many as 562 fresh COVID-19 cases took Punjab's tally to 1,37,999 on Monday, while 21 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,338, according to a health department bulletin. There are 4,934 active cases in the state, the bulletin stated.
Tamil Nadu reported 2,257 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 7,46,079, while the toll stood at 11,362 with 18 more fatalities, the lowest witnessed in nearly five months. Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 460 new COVID-19 cases pushing the infection tally to 99,352, while nine fatalities in a day took the death toll to 1,542, officials said. Of the fresh cases, 153 were from Jammu division and 307 from Kashmir Valley.
Bihar's COVID-19 caseload rose to 2,23,476 on Monday with the detection of 865 new cases, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surpassed 2.15 lakh, pushing the state's recovery rate to 96.47 per cent, a health department official said on Monday.

Puducherry reported 63 new COVID-19 cases while a 74-year old woman succumbed to the virus taking the toll in the union territory to 602, a top Health Department official said on Monday. The 63 fresh cases were reported during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday after the examination of 2,530 samples, Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release here.

Chhattisgarh on Sunday reported 1,375 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total count of infections to 2,00,937, a health official said. The state had crossed the one-lakh mark on September 26, when it had recorded 1,02,461 cases.
Assam's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,08,789 on Sunday as the state reported a nearly five-month low of 152 new cases, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Sikkim's COVID-19 tally mounted to 4,245 as 50 more people tested positive for the infection while two more fatalities pushed the death toll to 78, an official said on Sunday. The State Information Education Communication (IEC) member Sonam Bhutia said that East Sikkim reported 40 cases, South Sikkim (9) and West Sikkim (1).
Surat reported194 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the highest for any district in Gujarat, taking the overall count to 37,362, while 217 people were discharged and two succumbed to the infection during the day, an official said.

With the death of one more policeman in Mumbai due to coronavirus on Sunday, the fatality count in the city's police force rose to 93, an official said. The 57-year-old police inspector died in the morning, the official said.
"The inspector was a Mira Road resident. He was on leave since September 22 over complaints of high blood pressure and was shifted to a nearby hospital. He also suffered from diabetes," he added.

Meghalaya's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,202 on Sunday as 155 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health department official said. The new cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district (69), Ri Bhoi (61), West Garo Hills (11), East Garo Hills (7), South Garo Hills (5) and West Jaintia Hills district (2), he said.
