A pan-India culinary event that showcases some of India’s finest restaurants, the fifth ‘Citibank Restaurant Week’ in association with BBC GoodFood India, is back in the city and is scheduled for September 24 to 30. Offering consumers a chance to experience some of India’s best high-end restaurants through a prix fixe menu, it offers attractions like no other.

Participating restaurants will be offering a three-course menu (with an option of vegetarian or non-vegetarian) for Rs 1,000 for lunch and Rs 1,200 for dinner, excluding taxes. ‘‘Last year we had 6,500 diners and this year we are hoping  to cross the 10,000 mark. Reaching that landmark will encourage us to expand further. We often get feedback that people would like the Restaurant Week run longer, so that is something we are aiming towards as well,” says Mangal Dalal, one of the three promoters

Participating this year are restaurants like Azimuth, Chaobella, Dakshin, Diva, Eest, Indian Accent, Kainoosh, Magique, My Humble House, ITC Maurya, Olive Bar and Kitchen, Olive Beach, Pan Asian, Prego, Rara Avis, Saffron, Sakura, Smoke House Grill, Smoke House Room, Taipan, Tres, Travertino, Varq and many more. ‘‘Our approach was to ensure quality in execution and more importantly, ensuring our growth was organic and sustainable. This was a passion project but now that it is gaining momentum, it finally allows us to have our ideal job,’’ says Nachiket Shetye and Azeem Zainulbhai, the other two promoters.

With interesting culinary events like the Chef’s Table with special tastings, the week will cook up quite a storm.
