Sensex, Nifty end at record high

Indian markets settled higheron Wednesday after non-bank financial companies such as IDFCclimbed after the election commission allowed the Reserve Bank of India to announce new bank licences ahead of the general elections. Both Sensex and Nifty traded at a new life time high. Heathcare, consumer durables and realty stocks witnessed a rise while FMCG and metal stocks dropped.

At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 105.05 points or 0.47% at 22,551.49 with 19 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 31.50 points or 0.47% at 6,752.55 with 32 components registering rise.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap index rose 1.59% and 1.60% respectively.
