Sensex jumps above 25,800; Reliance, HDFC lead

Indian equities ralliedin Monday trade. Reliance Industries, which reported strong quarterly numbers, led the rise in the market. Oil & gas, realty and banking stocks witnessed a gain.

At 10.29 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 169.10 points or 0.66% at 25,810.66 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 49.35 points or 0.64% at 7,713.25 with 39 components gaining.

Top gainers were RIL (2.56%), HDFC (1.93%), Maruti Suzuki (1.74%) and HDFC Bank (1.39%).

Top losers were Hindalco (1.30%), ONGC (0.43%) and Tata Power (0.38%).

The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.18% and 1.29% respectively. The Oil & Gas index was at 10,909.00, up by 138.54 points or by 1.29%. The Realty index was at 2,002.97, up by 21.61 points or by 1.09%. The Bankex index was at 17,786.07, up by 174.36 points or by 0.99%.
