It is time to talk friendship in Sandalwood again with a series of film plots themed on the bond. To start with, we have the film Dosthi produced by Narendra Sriram and which will have V Anand debut as a director. It revolves around a deep friendship. “There is also a love triangle. Through our movie, we have tried to address the social issue of drugs and youth plaguing our society for many years. This is a complete family entertainer,” says Anand, adding, “Friendship unique among all relationships, this is the theme of the story. It is an original script for which we have cast mostly newcomers.”

Radio Jockey Pradeep has turned director and chose the topic of friendship. “I was supposed to do a film three years ago, but it didn’t work out then. Huchhudugaru happened to me last year,” says Pradeep, throwing more light on his movie. “The film has two shades. There is love and the bonding between friends who are ready to help each other in every which way. They start their journey from Nanjangud to Bangalore, not realising there is trouble in store for them here. When they realise it, they fight back. There is friendship, disagreement and sacrifice in every situation of the movie,” he says.

Tubelight is another story that runs on the lines of friendship and is still in the making. First-time director Venugopal has chosen a story about friends bonding. “Nobody is born perfect, every one learns from his/her mistakes and changes at every step. This is Tubelight for me,” says the director on his film, which will be a bromance shot on the world’s highest motorable road at Khardungla. “It is about four different people with four different mentalities and their journey of friendship. We have seven heroines in the movie. I can’t reveal more,” he says.
