Representatives of various BEd colleges have planned to launch a campaign against the Bangalore University (BU) Task Force report that recommends withdrawal of affiliation of 43 out of 99 BEd colleges.

The Karnataka State Private BEd College Principals and Lecturers Association will start submitting memorandums to members of the Syndicate and Academic Council from Monday, four days before the Academic Council, will meet to discuss the Task Force report.

“The association rejects the report of the Task Force as it is unscientific and undemocratic. Recommending disaffiliation is one thing, but the manner in which the task force has carried out its study is not right. How can they trespass colleges, seize documents and approach outside regulatory bodies against the colleges?” questioned D N Nataraj, general secretary of the association. It  has demanded scrapping of the Task Force report and set up of a state-level committee to look into the status of teacher education colleges.

“They can give us six months time. If we don’t improve our colleges then we are ready for action,” he said, adding that the lives of nearly 400 employees at these colleges were at stake.

Task Force Chairman H Karan Kumar said, “We are ready to be challenged even in the court, as we have all the documents and evidence. In fact, I am receiving threats that I will not be allowed to come to the meeting on November 30. Our report is purely based on observations.”
