The negative shade

It was a challenge! Earlier, I had apprehensions, as my fans have always seen me playing sweet roles and so will they accept me in a negative role? The bad guy will lose in the end and hence Madhuri’s character will have an upper hand. These things were in my head but once I sorted these issues, I was looking forward to it. Let me be a little modest and say that the film needed me more than I needed the film. The character suited me and the film wouldn’t get the spark without me. I want to take the credit for the zing factor in the movie.

Not based on Bundelkhand group

No we have not met anybody from the real Gulabi gang. It is only the tittle and the fact is the sarees are pink and so it gives the impression that the film is inspired by the Gulabi Gang. The film is very dramatised as it is a commercial version. It really has no direct connect with the real people and so we never met them.

Working with Madhuri Dixit

I have known Madhuri for years but we never got to know each other beyond greeting. It was the first time I was working with her and it was exciting. The director called us a day before the shooting, left us alone in the room to chat and then the ice broke. There was this one moment I remember Madhuri and I worked for five days together and the rest of our shots were in different scenes. When we saw the first edit, there were little gaps. To sort it out, we met at the office. Madhuri, me, the director, producer, creative head, and we started discussing what was missing, then Anubhav Sinha just looked at us very objectively and said, this is an amazing moment. Both of you are two actresses of the film and you are discussing how the other actress’ part can be enhanced. Rarely do we even see two actors doing this as everyone says make me look good and forget about everybody else. Together, I am sure, we will make this movie spark.

Newcomers in Industry

A lot of newcomers are very talented. Well, Deepika is not a newcomer but I find her very talented. Ranbir Kapoor is also fantastic and I really like him as an actor and he has done a great job. Ranveer is also very apt at his performances.

Journey of life till now

It has been a wonderful ride with success and failure in my life. The failure has taught me, toughened me and taught me how to fight back. The success made me take wrong decisions as I thought I have reached the stars.

The film will be releasing on March 7 .
