Actor-filmmaker Arbaaz Khan reveals his secret of staying in shape. The 46-year-old doesn’t follow any elaborate rules, just simple directives when it comes to exercise and diet. The actor believes a fulfilling and happy life is closely connected to staying fit. A piece of advice from Arbaaz is it’s important to get one’s exercise and diet right.
I work out five days a week. I’m pretty regular when it comes to gyming. My exercise regimen lasts for at least an hour. I do a lot of cardio, jogging and walking. I also love doing yoga.
I make it a point to apply the principles of yoga in everyday life and it has held me in good stead. I also follow the yoga branch of dhyana, or meditation.
It’s important to vary your fitness routine so that you don’t get bored. Yoga, meditation and breathing exercises help me in staying physically fit and bringing about the inner balance.
I was a smoker. But now it has been almost a year that I have quit smoking.
I think it is a big achievement for me.
I spend time with family,
I read a book or watch a movie.
I prefer eating home-cooked food. I generally avoid eating carbs, fried food and sugar. I start my day with a protein shake. For breakfast, I have fruits or cereals and egg whites. For lunch, I have a full meal that includes roti, dal, subzi, brown rice and either chicken or fish. If I’m hungry in the evening, I eat a fruit. My dinner is the same as my lunch. I just avoid eating rice for dinner.
Practice yoga and eat right. I believe your body needs a bit of everything including proteins and carbohydrates. Eat everything but in the right quantity and make it a point to exercise everyday. If you can’t live without sweets, have it in the form of fruits or honey.
