The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has received a fresh set of files from the Ministry of Coal on Monday, which it had sought from the latter for probing the coal block allocation scam.

The agency is currently in the process of scrutinising the files. “After the scrutiny is over, the agency will come to know which all files, documents are yet to be received,” a CBI source said.

The investigating agency has, till date, received hundreds of files from the Coal Ministry that were required by it to probe the coal block allocation scam. But it did not receive around 150 files that it had sought.

CBI sources remained tight-lipped about the contents of the files received. The Coal Ministry had given the files to CBI following an order of the apex court, which directed the Union Government that the investigating agency should be provided the documents required by it. On September 2, the CBI submitted details of ‘missing files’ regarding coal block  allocations.made to 26 companies.
