HYDERABAD: Mediapersons and their equipment also bore the brunt of the Telangana activists' ire during the Million March on the Tank Bund yesterday.

An outdoor broadcasting van of a private television news channel was set ablaze and a van belonging to another channel was damaged badly. Nearly 30 video cameras and six photo cameras were snatched and thrown into the Hussainsagar by the Telangana supporters for recording the acts of vandalism.

Several mediapersons, including a woman reporter, were manhandled and some of them suffered severe injuries at the hands of the protesters.

The AP Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) condemned the attack on media and said it was unfortunate that a woman journalist was targeted. “The attack took place when mediapersons were recording acts of vandalism by marchers who targeted several statues of great Telugu personalities,'' APUWJ president D Somasundar said.
