CBSE State Youth Festival Begins at Mala

Curtains went up for the 19th CBSE State Youth Festival at the Holy Grace Academy in Mala here on Thursday. The four-day extravaganza of art, music and dance began with cine actor Mala Aravindan hoisting the flag at the festival venue. 

Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb inaugurated the festival in the evening at a function presided over by T N Prathapan MLA. There will be no schools in the state without recognition from next academic year and the state government has initiated steps to give recognition to schools that are adhering to the norms and regulations of the Education Department by December end, the minister said.

The government would give No Objection Certificate to as many as 400 public schools  this year with this objective and the government has no biased attitude towards Malayalam or English mediums, the Minister added.

The ‘CBSE state Kalotsav’, organised by the Kerala CBSE School Management Association, have brought together as many as 7,000 students selected through district-level festivals from around 1,300 CBSE schools in the state.

Competitions in 130 items are being held at various venues on the campus of Holy Grace Academy. The festival is being telecast live on the Internet.

K P Danapalan will inaugurate the valedictory function on December 15 and actor Manju Warrier will give away the prizes to the winners of the festival during the concluding function.

The students took an oath to protect the environment and against narcotics prior to the inaugural function. The festival venue is free from flex and hoarding as the motto of the festival is ‘art and heart with nature’.
