Sabarimala revenue touches 230 crore during pilgrimage season

The total earning at Sabarimala during the recently concluded Mandala-Makaravilakku season, including the income from the Pampa devaswom, has been recorded as Rs 230 crore, showing an increase of Rs 12 crore from the last year’s pilgrimage season.

The aggregate income of Sabarimala during the 2011-2012 pilgrimage season was Rs 218 crore, Devaswom sources said.

Of the total income, the revenue earning from Sabarimala alone comes to Rs 180 crore during the 2012-2013 pilgrimage season.

The total income at Sabarimala during the corresponding period last year was Rs 174 crore, Devaswom sources said.

Of the aggregate income of Sabarimala, the turnout from the sale of aravana prasadam alone stands at `74.50 crore.

The sale proceeds from appam prasadam comes to Rs 13 core, sources said. The hundi collection at Sabarimala temple recorded Rs 72 crore.

The aggregate income of Pampa Devaswom, which comes under the Sabarimala Devaswom, comes to Rs 45 crore during the period under review.

It was Rs 40 crore during the 2011-2012 season, Devaswom sources said.
