Padma Bhushan Dr Gurram Jashuva Research Centre of Telugu Akademi invites nominations from writers and poets for  three awards instituted by the Akademi.

The awards will be presented during the 118th birth anniversary celebrations on September 28.

The Telugu Akademi has been celebrating  Jashuva’s birth anniversary for the past two years celebrations in a grand manner.

The advisory council of the research centre, which had met last year under the chairmanship of deputy chief minister Damodara Raja Narasimha who is also chairman of Telugu Akademi, decided to institute three awards in the name of Gurram Jashuva and give them to those who  contributed in a significant manner to Telugu literature.

‘Jashuva Jeevita Saphalya Puraskaram’ will be presented to a male writer or poet aged above 60 years, Jashuva Sahitya Visishta Puraskaram to a writer or poet who made valuable contribution to Dalita Sahityam (Dalit literature) and the Jashuva Visishta Mahila Purasakaram to a female writer or poetess aged over 50 years of age who made significant contribution to the Telugu  literature. The award carries a cash prize of `2 lakh, a memento and a shawl.
