The raids conducted in Kuwait without  prior intimation have put many Keralities in a spot.

Hundreds of Indians who were staying in the  country without valid documents were arrested in a surprise raid conducted by the Kuwait government.

As many as 25 Keralites have been sent back to India in a Sharjah flight that landed in Delhi on Friday afternoon. Those who returned said that many Indians, including Keralites, have been detained for alleged illegal stay.

Minister for Non-Resident Keralites Affairs K C Joseph said the state government is closely monitoring the situation and the government has already contacted various NRK organisations in Kuwait.

“All arrangements have been made to send all the Keralites to their respective native places. The state government will bear all the expenses. Arrangements have been made to accommodate them in the Kerala House,” he said.

Joseph said that state government was kept in the dark regarding the move by the Kuwait authorities to carry out raids on illegal migrants.

Meanwhile, the Keralites who reached Delhi complained that they were not provided with food, water or any refreshments.
