India stock index futures signal flat to positive open

Indian equities are likely to open flat tracking mixed global markets on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. SGX Nifty trading at 6,245 (07.25 am), 19 points higher than Monday's close of 6,226.

Asian stocks are trading mixed in early trade on Tuesday. Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 fell 0.67% to open at 14,553.95. China's Shanghai Composite opened down by 0.30% at 2,183.86.

US stocks declined on Monday. The S&P 500 declined 13.72 points or 0.74%, to 1,845.73. Dow Jones industrial average fell 153.68 points or 0.94%, to 16,168.03. Nasdaq Composite went down 30.82 points or 0.72%, to 4,277.30.

European markets dropped on Monday. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 dropped 101.35 points or 1.49% to settle at 6,708.35. French benchmark index CAC 40 fell 117.21 points or 2.66%, to end at 4,290.87. Germany's benchmark index DAX went down 333.19 points or 3.44% to close at 9,358.89.

Crude oil prices ended higher on Monday. Light sweet crude oil for April delivery increased USD 2.33 to settle at USD 104.92 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude oil for April settlement rose USD 2.13, or 2% at USD 111.20 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe Exchange.
