Things finally seem to be looking up for actor Arundathi. 2014 is going to be an eventful year for her with five films in her kitty. The three-film old actor was last seen in the period flick Sundattam. Come March, three more films will be ready for release, while two are under production. Speaking to CE, the actor admits that she’s choosing her roles carefully and is revving up to make up for the slow start.

The actor, who was introduced in Tamil with SA Chandrasekar’s Veluthu Kattu, is currently shooting for Thottal Thodarum and Naigal Jakkirathai. “Earlier, I made a few professional choices that did not help me in furthering my career. But with my current line-up of films, I’m thrilled with the wide range of roles I’ve been offered to play,” says Arundathi.

In FCS Creations’ Thottal Thodarum opposite Taman, she plays a call centre employee. “It’s a heroine-centric thriller and love story directed by debutant Cable Shankar. It’s about a girl who falls in love and  suddenly finds herself in the middle of a huge problem, which she has to solve,” says Arundathi. Shooting for Thottal Thodarum was quite an experience for the doe-eyed beauty. “I had to learn several ways to portray fear with my eyes and expressions. Director Cable Shankar helped me every bit of the way and everyday at home I would practise before a mirror to get the expressions right,” She recalls. Two songs from the film are yet to be shot, for which she may head to Nepal and Singapore.

In the Sibiraj-starrer Naigal Jakkirathai, she has a pivotal role. Talking about her other projects she says, “In Vetri opposite newbie Rathesh, I play a business woman while in Saravanan Poigai, I play a family-oriented girl.” But, the thrilling part was her role in Netru Indru with Vimal, Prasanna and Richard. “Most newcomers yearn to bag their dream role. But, I’m thrilled that I got it much earlier in my career in Netru Indru, where I play the tough role of a prostitute. But, there too there is a twist in the tale,” she smiles.  The actor is up for challenges and concludes, “I would love to play a role like Sridevi’s in Moondram Pirai.”
