Takayuki Ishida’s appointment as the CEO of Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd came at a time when the company announced its plans to revive the Datsun brand to drive up sales in emerging countries of India, Russia and Indonesia. Prior to his elevation, Takayuki was general manager, India Department, at Nissan Motor Company in Japan.

Takayuki is responsible for introduction of new products in the country. Besides, Takayuki will oversee the development of Nissan’s sales and distribution network. The auto major is looking at developing a range of small cars priced between `2 lakh and `4 lakh under the ‘Datsun’ brand to up sales in the Indian market. The first of these products is scheduled to hit roads by 2014-end. Takayuki’s assignment is also significant as Nissan is looking at scaling up exports from India, which is set to emerge as the largest exports hub for Nissan in Asia in the near future.
