Lokayukta recovers Rs 4.5 crore illegal assets

The Lokayukta police raided 21 premises belonging to seven government officials, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Assets worth around Rs 4.5 crore were recovered from the officials in simultaneous raids in four districts.

The government officials under the scanner are the Director of the Karnataka Institute of Leather Technology Chikkaiah, BBMP Executive Engineer Rangaiah, Shantinagar Excise Inspector Krishna Murthy, Yelahanka Food Inspector K Prakash, Secretary of Hubli KSRTC Employees Credit Co-operative Society G Prakashmurthy, Superintendent of Gulbarga RTO Office Shivashankarappa Manoli and Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Yadgir District Urban Development Cell Bandeppa.

Additional Director-General of Police of the Lokayukta H N S Rao said, “FIRs were registered on Thursday for disproportionate assets case. Raids were conducted by seven teams of officials and several assets and lockers are yet to be verified.”

Executive Engineer, BBMP

A house in Nagarabhavi 2nd stage (Rs 30 lakh), land in Magadi Taluk (Rs 25 lakh), Rs 2 lakh, 440 gm of gold, household articles (Rs 14 lakh), 2 bank lockers in Mysore (yet to be verified). Total DA - Rs 60 lakh

Krishna Murthy,

Inspector Excise,  Shantinagar

2 sites in Avalahalli,  Bangalore (Rs 7.92 lakh and Rs 16 lakh), 2 more sites- one in JJ Nagar (Rs 6.51 lakh) another in Visheveshwaraiah Layout (Rs 1.7 lakh). Total DA - Rs 35 lakh G Prakashmurthy,

Secretary, KSRTC Employees Credit Co-operative Society, Hubli

A site and house in Rayanala village in Hubli (Rs 8.4 lakh), 2 sites, one in Gamanagatti and another in Ulakal in Hubli. Houses (Rs 24.35 lakh), a site in Goravinakallu vilage in Hosadurga (Rs 16,000), another site in Srirapura in Mysore (Rs 3.75 lakh). Total DA - Rs 39 lakh Shivashankarappa Manoli,

Superintendent, RTO Office, G’barga

A site and house in Godutayi Layout (Rs 10.80 lakh), another site and house in NGO Colony (Rs 8 lakh), a BDA site in Kengeri Layout in Bangalore (Rs 1.81 lakh), a site and under-construction house in Brahmapura in Gulbarga (Rs 37.20 lakh), Rs 1.55 lakh, household articles (Rs 8.42 lakh). Total DA -73 lakh


AEE, District Urban Development Cell, Yadgir

A house and commercial complex in Yadgir (Rs 58 lakh), 34 acres in Mushtoor vilage (Rs 5.40 lakh), 2 sites in TMC Gulbarga (Rs 1.30 lakh), and another in KHB Housing Board (Rs 11.85 lakh), bank deposits (Rs 8.50 lakh).  Total DA - Rs 88 lakh

Food Inspector, Yelahanka

House in Kasturba Nagar in Bangalore (Rs 12.57 lakh), a site in Yeshwanthpura (Rs 27 lakh), 2 sites in Uttarahalli (Rs 16.35 lakh), 2 sites in Visheveshwaraiah Layout (Rs 12 lakh) and a site in Annapoorneshwarinagar (Rs 4 lakh). Total DA - Rs 52 lakh
