Two coral necklaces, worth Rs 3.5 crore, have been donated to Chidambaram Natarajar temple by a devotee.

Family members of Chidambaram Sahari Ammal-Vishwanatha Iyer donated the coral necklaces, woven on 20 sovereigns of gold. The necklaces had been given to Sri Iyappa Dikshitar, secretary of Sri Sabapathy Sangeetha Gana Sabha Trust and to Somaskanthar Dikshitar and Pattu Dikashitar, who are members of the managing committee of Podhu Dikshitars of the temple.

The Dikshitars said that these necklaces would be garlanded on Lord Nataraja and Sri Sivagama Sundari during ‘Markazhi’ Arudhra festival.
