Pondy CM Denies Difference of Opinion with Lt Governor

Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Tuesday did a virtual somersault and said  he did not have any differences of opinion with Lt governor Virendra Kataria.

“My only aim and action will be to get full Statehood status for Puducherry,” he told newsmen here.

When asked why he stayed away from two government functions attended by Lt governor in Karaikal, Rangasamy simply said it was not a boycott. He also parried a question on whether files sent by him are getting approved by Lt Governor.”Files will go and come,” he said.

Responding to  Lt governor’s charge that no action was taken to lay the foundation stone for the super specialty hospital in Karaikal,

Rangasamy said the required land was acquired in 2006 itself and the project plan estimate was on. After completing it, the foundation stone would be laid. He added that ten acres of land had been allotted for the Marine University at Akkaraipetai in Karaikal.

Asked to respond to CPI National Council member Na Ra Kalainathan’s charge that whenever the government faced crisis, Rangasamy took up Statehood issue,the Chief Minister said that he and his governmentdid not have any crisis at all.Rangasamy said the administration had spent `41.65 crore this financial year alone towards tuition fees reimbursement for the students selected through CENTAC for 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. It has benefited 7,462 students, he added. He handed over `11.64 Cr to private medical and engineering college representatives towards  tuition fees of  students selected through CENTAC during 2012-13 and said another `18 Cr required for the provision of tuition fees to students selected through CENTAC during 2013-14 and would be given in current fiscal itself.
