A remand prisoner created a flutter on the combined court premises here on Monday by slitting his hand with a piece of glass.

Police said  that Musthaffa (29), a resident of K K Nagar in Gorimedu was arrested  in connection with three cases and was lodged in the Central prison here.

Meanwhile, on Monday morning, when Musthafa was brought to the combined court complex for a trial in one of the cases, he suddenly banged the glass screen of the door at the entrance. When a women cop, who was escorting the accused, tried to stop him Musthafa turned more aggressive and attempted to snatch the gun from her. However, his attempt was foiled by other personnel escorting him.

But Musthafa’s rude behaviour did not stop with this, as he picked up one of the broken pieces of the glass and slit his hand and complained that he was being served poor quality food in the prison.  On information, a police team from Hasthampatti rushed and led Musthaffa into the court. After the trial was over, he was taken back to the Central Jail.

Regarding Musthafa’s charge on poor quality food in the jail, authorities claimed the food served for prisoners was of good quality. However, another set of four prisoners too threatened to go on fast demanding that they be allowed to take food from the canteen. But they did not carry out their threat.
