Brahmakumaris, an international NGO operating in over 137 countries will be hosting a two-day National Convention at Rani Seethai Hall in the city on December 21 and 22, explicating the significance of the Bhagvad Gita. The seminar, according to the organisers, will shed light on the essence of the scriptures.

Speaking about the convention, B K Asha, director of Om Shanti Retreat Centre, Delhi, said, “Instances of crime, especially against women, are on the rise; we will attempt to resolve the issues plaguing the society, through this conference.” She outlined the significance of the holy scriptures and said, “Answers to all our problems are present in the scriptures, especially in the Gita, but we simply ignore them.”

Addressing mediapersons, Eswarayya, Patron of Brahmakumaris and former Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh,  said, “The convention will deal with contemporary problems.” “During my tenure as a judge, I witnessed how crimes such as abuse, domestic violence and violence against women have roots in one’s own family. By comprehending the essence of the Gita, we will attempt to expunge the social evils,” added he.

Senior patron of the Brahmakumaris and former director of CBI, D R Kaarthikeyan, concluded, “There is a lot to be learnt from the scriptures and the public can achieve peace both at the individual level and at the societal level through the Bhagvad Gita.”
