The ‘thiruvabharana’ procession, heralding the onset of the two-month-long ‘Kaliyoottu’ festival of the Major Vellayani Devi Temple, will begin at 6 pm on Tuesday from Nemom Village Office.

“The festival is significant as it is held once in three years,” a release from the Travancore Devaswom Board said here on Monday.

The ‘thiruvabharanam’ or the deity’s ornaments, which is stored in the Devaswom strong room at Parassala Mahadeva Temple compound, will be handed over to the Vellayani temple Sub-Group Officer by Devaswom Assistant Commissioner.

The ‘thiruvabharanam’ will be then taken to Nemom Kacherinada from where it will be received by the village officer of Nemom for the procession.
