The Central Police in the city has registered another case against Kavitha Pillai after an Angamaly native lodged a complaint against her on Monday. With this, the total number of cases registered against her has gone up to 11.

The complaint was filed by a person named Manoj. “She allegedly cheated Manoj by taking `15 lakhs for arranging MBBS admission for his son at a private medical college in Kochi. After taking the money she went absconding,” a police official said. There are nine cases registered against her at Kochi city Central Police Station. Two cases have been registered at police stations in Paripally and Palakkad.

Police officials, who were interrogating Kavitha Pillai for last five days, produced her before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate on Monday. The court remanded her in judicial custody. Police also filed a report regarding the case before the court.  The move by the police to arrest Harikrishnan, counsel for Kavitha, for his alleged involvement in the case, got a major set back, after the High Court issued an interim order preventing his arrest for three weeks.

Police officials said that they would go ahead with the arrest only after the High Court takes a decision on the anticipatory bail petition filed by Harikrishnan.
