Denying charges that all the brouhaha she created was a publicity stunt, actress Nazriya Nazim said she has withdrawn her objections against the film Naiyyandi.

On Sunday, Nazriya had complained to the Nadigar Sangam that the director had used a body double to shoot an ‘intimate’ scene without her knowledge. She followed that up with a written complaint to the Commissioner of Police on Tuesday.

Afraid that the police might ban the film, Naiyyandi’s producer Kathiresan ensured that the 18-year-old actress from Kerala watched the film with her family on Wednesday. “After watching the film, I am convinced that none of the scenes with the body double have been used in the film. So I have no more grievance with the producer or the release of the film,” said Nazriya, addressing an emergency press conference on Wednesday night. When asked about her allegations of director Sargunam threatening her, she said his “tone” had led her to feel uneasy, and nothing else. However, it is evident that things aren’t hunky-dory between Nazriya and the film’s director Sargunam - she acknowledged as much when she said that all this was a result of “miscommunication”. The director was not a part of the meet.
